Unleash Your Creative Genius

Audience: Pastors, church leaders, church creatives, laypeople, and people desiring more creativity in their lives
Supposedly, since we’re made in the image of the Creator, we have creativity in us. This may be theologically true, but most of us don’t know it to be so. In fact, the vast majority of us don’t consider ourselves to be creative at all. Maybe that’s why recent workplace surveys say only 13% of us are actively engaged in our jobs, and 74% of us want to quit. Learn how creativity is innate, how we lose it, how to reclaim the wonder God designed for us, and steps you can take to unlock innovation and learn to create again.
Audience: Anyone with a desire to improve their creativity and productivity
Learning to reclaim your creative wonder begins with a daily discipline. That’s why they call it a creative process. Learn how to think of creativity as a spiritual practice and a means by which we experience God’s Spirit in our lives. The goal for this session is for you to walk away with the techniques you need in order to improve your creative work in both quantity and quality.
Audience: Pastors and church leaders
If the digital age has taught us anything, it’s that our message changes hearts and lives when it gets shared in a community. Transforming hearts, lives and communities has always been about the content of our message. But the act of communication is not just sender to receiver. The community is a core part of how we cut through the noise so our message gets heard. In this session, we will explore keys to better shareability, including how to clarify our message, how to earn the community’s attention, ways to tap into your God-given creativity, secrets to good images, how to tell stories that resonate, and more.
Audience: Pastors, church leaders and media specialists
The best creative teams are comprised of neither mercenaries nor amateurs but innovative storytellers who are wholly invested in your community. Discover the secrets to building and unleashing world class talent in service to your message. It starts with becoming an advocate and leader for your own ministry’s welfare. Includes an analysis of your current situation, a model for working together, a thorough content strategy, a process for unleashing great talent, as well as tips for developing better channels, personnel and technology plans, better worship development, and – finally – a comprehensive annual messaging calendar for the church.
Audience: Pastors and church leaders
All too often, churches hire talented designers, filmmakers and artists only to experience an inability to communicate, frustration, and frequent turnover. You can’t just hire a specialist and solve all your problems. The ability to craft messages that transform your community starts with identity and direction, not tactics. What’s needed is a strategic focus on transformative communication. This begins with a deep understanding of the people you’re trying to reach. In this session, discover the must haves for a vital church brand, including your community’s story, your hidden community values, and how to discover a vision for your church’s future.

In addition, I can build custom sessions based on any of my books, including media ministry leadership, worship design, and more.

About Me

My life passion is to use oral, written and visual communication with equal effectiveness to tell the story of Jesus Christ and advance God’s kingdom.
I’ve been practicing this calling for 22 years, and for 21 years I’ve been leading pastors and church staff on the way we communicate in church. I’ve written 10 books, consulted dozens of churches, and led hundreds of conferences.

But I don’t just teach others. I also direct a creative ministry at a large church in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where I face daily leadership and tactical challenges. I believe the most effective teachers are also practitioners.
